Personal Anti-Spam For Power Users
Setup Notes
These notes are intended to give you an overview of how to configure your email client for use with our Personal Anti-Spam filtering service. It is not intended to provide all the details of each step. The remaining details will be available after you sign-up and login to our secure support site.
1. Sign up and log in.
First you will need to sign up with us and log in to your account. During the sign-up process we will create an onlymyemail.com address for you. This is where your filtered email will be delivered.
2. Set up an account to filter.
Next you'll need to give us the information we'll need to access the email in your current email account(s).
Note: This step is only necessary if you want us to filter one or more of your current email accounts. If you just want to use your onlymyemail.com address as a new spam free email address, you can skip this step.
Let's say you want us to filter your
user@host.tld account. (We use the example address
user@host.tld because it describes the parts of a typical email address: user, host and top level domain.)
Our personal anti-spam service works by downloading email in the user@host.tld account, filtering it and then delivering the email you want to your onlymyemail.com address.
To make that happen, you'll need to give us the name of the mail server and the log in credentials for your user@host.tld account. This is just like setting up an email client but you'll enter the information into our secure online interface instead of your desktop email client.
3. Reconfigure your email client.
- download email only from your onlymyemail.com address (we deliver the filtered email to this address)
- stop downloading email from user@host.tld (our servers can't filter your email if your client has already downloaded it)
Note: This is only necessary if you set up our system to filter the user@host.tld account.
4. Turn off other spam filtering software.
We frequently get blamed for missing email that was deleted by filtering systems other than ours. The best solution is to just let us do the filtering.
Advanced options.
If you want to make your sent email come from your user@host.tld address you can set up an "identity" in your email client. This way your outgoing email will still be from user@host.tld and nobody will reply to your onlymyemail.com address.
