What is OME-Kids?
OME-Kids is a web-based email system that is protected by the most advanced spam filtering system available today.
Like other webmail solutions, no software is installed on your computer, and you can access OME-Kids to send and receive email from any computer connected to the Internet.
-
What makes OME-Kids so different?
For starters, OME-Kids is not infested with the Spam and Virus problems that plague similar services.
Our network is devoid of distracting banner ads and annoying pop-up marketing windows. We don't stuff your inbox with email marketing and certainly won't be sharing your children's addresses with "marketing partners" or anyone else for that matter.
For OME-Kids we've created a unique set of "Parental Controls" that allow parents to closely monitor the email being sent to their children, and optionally, the email their children are sending as well.
All of the above is combined with the most accurate and highly rated spam filtering system on the Internet, which has been specifically tuned to more aggressively protect children for our OME-Kids application.
-
How many Kids addresses are included?
Each OME-Kids subscription includes the ability to create 2 separate email addresses. Additional addresses may be added at a cost of $12 per year and will be pro-rated on a monthly basis to renew at the same time as the original account subscription.
Parents may choose from a variety of domain names for their kid's email addresses. Currently, the options include:
- YourKidsName@OME-Kids.com
- YourKidsName@IBHere.com
- YourKidsName@OME-Teens.com
- YourKidsName@OnlyOurEmail.com
- YourKidsName@ReachMeWeb.com
- YourKidsName@ReasonRiver.com
- YourKidsName@TrueMailBox.com
- YourKidsName@Zooblix.com

What are the Daily Report emails?
When enabled, our system creates and delivers a Daily Report email for each email address.
The report provides a summary list of all the emails that we blocked for that email address the previous day.
The owner of the address can then use the links in the report to view and, if needed, retrieve any emails listed in the report.
-
How do I retrieve messages OME-Kids has removed?
Email that is blocked as Spam (or any other category you've chosen to block) is placed in a separate "deleted mail folder" and held on our servers for 14 days.
Parents can review these messages either through the "View Email Activity" menu in our Support site or from the daily "Email Activity Reports" that we will email to you.
Regardless of which method you use, the "Subject:" of each message displayed is a hyper-link that can be used to review a copy of the original.
Included in the display of this copy is a "Resend" button added to the to right-hand corner and selecting that button will re-deliver the original email to original destination address.
Once the resend is confirmed, you will be presented with the option of specifying whether future emails from that sender should be delivered.
-
Can I review email that my children send and receive?
Yes. In addition to reviewing the spam, viruses and other junk mail that we block, you will have the option of receiving copies of all incoming and outgoing email to and from your children's OME-Kids addresses.
Parents can also set any of their children's accounts to operate in "Lock-Down" mode (most appropriate for younger children) in which case all incoming email from unapproved senders will be held for parental review prior to delivery into the OME-Kids account.
When you release an email for delivery you will have the option of allowing messages from that sender to be delivered in the future without requiring additional approval.
-
Can I forward an external account into an OME-Kids Address?
Forwarding an external email account into your OME Kids address will typically result in reduced filtering accuracy as well as an increased rate of false-positives.
Because the email server that provides the forwarding becomes an unwitting spam relay, there is even the chance that this server could become blocked by our firewall, resulting in all messages (spam and otherwise) being refused by our server and returned to the original sender as undeliverable.
For these reasons, we prohibit users from forwarding external email addresses into accounts that are filtered and protected by our system. We will not filter such forwarded messages, and may refuse to accept them as well.
-
How do I report spam that makes it through the filters?
First, make sure that you enable the "Spam Submission" option from within the "Preferences" menu of the Support site. This will allow OME-Kids to insert a "spam reporting" hyper-link into your inbound messages. This link will allow you to "point and click" to report any spam that penetrates our filters.
-
Do we still need anti-virus software on my computer?
While OME-Kids will prevent viruses from reaching you through email, there are still several other vectors for infection including: web sites, instant messaging, Wi-Fi and LAN connections and/or intrusion through open ports.
This being the case, you should consider the OME-Kids service as a first-step in virus protection, and not a replacement for running anti-virus applications on your computer.
-
Can I use email software with an OME-Kids account?
The OME-Kids solution is entirely web-based. There is no support for using an alternative email program with this system.
-
Does OnlyMyEmail provide email auto-responders?
Unfortunately, "auto-responders" are responsible for a great deal of unwanted email on the Internet. Spammers seldom use their real address when sending email and when they send to an account that will "auto-respond" this reply ends up being sent to an innocent bystander whose address was "spoofed" as the sender of the spam message.
It's not unheard of for such a person to receive tens of thousands of "auto-replies" to emails they never sent. Because of the great inconvenience this creates for people victimized in this manner, OnlyMyEmail does not provide any auto-response services to it's clients, nor do we use them ourselves.
-
Can filtered email be forwarded to another address?
While you can manually forward any email to an external address, we do not provide automatic "email forwarding" services that will redirect all of your inbound mail to an external address.
-
Are there limits on sending and receiving email?
Designed for those under the age of 18 and in order to prevent abuses by spammers, OME-Kids accounts are limited to receiving 200 emails and sending 100 emails per day.
-
What is the disk quota for storing email?
Each OME-Kids address is provided with 250 MB on our system.
-
What Support Is Included With OME-Kids Accounts?
Because there is no software to download or install and no changes are made to any user's personal computers, OME-Kids does not include technical support and/or system training.
While we encourage "bug reports" and "user-feedback" submissions, it is the parent's responsibility to review the online documentation and to determine how to best use the system to protect their children.
