In theory, Sender Policy Framework (SPF) allows email servers to verify whether an inbound message is actually coming from the domain contained in the SMTP 'From:' field. Be aware that in practice it can not only cause many false positives, but will often enable Spammers to bypass simplistic filtering systems as well.
